I've been over to Yvonne's this afternoon, she is peaceful and comfortable with occassional moments of clarity,
Jen came over from France and spent some time with Yvonne yesterday.

Her mum is asking that she remains quiet now, so please no visitors as this puts Margaret in the very awkward position of having to turn people away.

The one thing Margaret would like help with is that if people could post any funny stories or anecdotes about Yvonne here or send them to me,as she'd like to compile them.

I'm sure we can all come up with some corkers.

  1. All I can say is that in the relatively short time I have known Yvonne she has left me with a strong and enduring impression of two of her many qualities.

Firstly, she has the most incredible recall; a steel-trap mind if you will. This is balanced by her beautifully ethereal nature which is expressed in her exquisite art.

The memory of her knitting her beadwork whilst explaining the intricacies of the Tilbury Loop to me on a train to Southend sums up both perfectly.

    Love as always, Jessica

  2. Hi Yvonne Really wanted to see you last Thursday when I missed the Tesco turn so decided would have to go to Waitrose's! In addition to work we often met in there by accident and you would be telling me about a lovely recipe and a good wine to go with it as I hid my pizza and Red Bull! Your knowledge of culture and life is tremendous and I loved the 5 years I worked with you at SACC as each day I learnt something from you. Thanks for this and love to you from Tina and Jon. We are thinking of you.

  3. Spent the weekend in Norfolk with my dad and we went to church yesterday morning. St Mary's in Old Hunstanton is a beautiful Norman church with windows Ray Sapsford would absolutely adore. My mind was full of you Yvonne and I wrote a prayer for you on the prayer board as we entered. The sermon was about the similarity between a church knave and a harbour, how we go there for a 'refit', to replenish our needs and to move on revitialised and with the warm glow of our loved ones in our minds. You have so many people that love you Von, you have always brought out the very best in everyone you touch. Much love, Jeanette & family

  5. I have just discovered this site and am so sad to learn that Yvonne is no longer with us. We sat beside each other on Monday nights for 4 years luxuriating in City and Guilds Embroidery at the London College of Fashion from 1984-88.
She was such fun and as others have said a wealth of information and a great encouragement to me.
We kept in touch but didnt meet as often as I would have liked busy lives etc.
I am so glad I knew her and have many happy memories.
